Join a Challenge

So if you've seen my posts or talked to me in person you've probably heard about this "Challenge Group" thing I talk about, and you're wondering what it is? I'm going to share with you 4 things that will help you not only make a healthy lifestyle change but KEEP one.
Fitness: One of the things that drew me to starting my fitness regimen with Beachbody was the ability to workout in my own home in 30 minutes a day. That's it. No commute to and from the gym, waiting for machines or having to find a sitter. I literally could just pop the DVD in and get to work.

Nutrition: Each program Beachbody offers comes with an amazing nutrition guide. The portion fix containers and easy to follow nutrition guide teaches you the proper amount of each food group you really need on your plate, and gives you delicious recipes to do so with. One of my favorite parts of my 21 Day Fix journey is I have never had to et something separate from my family. We all eat the same delicious healthy foods. I just simple measure out my portions using the containers before putting it on my plate. In my challenge groups I will help teach you new recipes to incorporate, answer questions and teach you tips and tricks to make this lifestyle change as smooth as possible.

Support: Being in one of my groups means you get to have me as your Coach. I've lost 40+ pounds on this lifestyle change and have been blessed with the opportunity to be able to encourage and support others on their own. In my challenge groups not only will you have me there cheering you on, but you will have a group of others who are on their fit journey as well. People that will become part of your #FitFam who you will share your highs, lows, and challenges with a long the way. We are in this together and together we are stronger.

PRIZES!I love giving stuff away in our challenge groups. Sweat selfie prizes, encourager of the week prizes.. so much fun! My favorite are the surprise prizes I like to through in when you least expect it ;)

By joining one of my challenge groups you can be assured you will always have a place to share your accomplishments, ask questions, be fueled with inspiration, recipes and fellowship.

How do I join? You can join one of two ways! Fill out the quick form below or send me an email at CoachJennyM@gmail.com. I'd love to hear about your goals, a little about you and together we'll pick the right program for you.

How long do these groups last? Typically about 3 weeks, which is the perfect amount of time to do a round of 21 Day Fix. Sometimes I'll do shorter or longer ones. If you want to stay in touch via Facebook you will be the first to hear of upcoming groups!

What is expected of me? To give this your best effort for the duration of the challenge. It won't always be easy, it won't always be comfortable. But the results you get and the new healthy lifestyle habits you will gain will be worth it.

Hammer and Chisel: Results and Review

This past Sunday 2/28 I completed my final workout on the 8 week Hammer and Chisel Program created by Autumn Calabrese and Sagi Kalev.

For those of you that know me, or have read my posts in the past I have done several Beachbody programs over the years. This was my first program to do after getting cleared to start working out again and building strength after getting injured in September. My strength in my left shoulder and my neck had decreased significantly so I was hesitant at first but very much up for the challenge.

Over the 8 week Challenge:

- I never missed a single workout
- I ate following the nutrition guidelines to a "T" about 70-80% of the time.
- I challenged myself each workout and gave it all I got.
- I lifted heavy weights and LOVED it.
- I gained energy and lost way more inches than I expected.
- I loved the muscle confusion techniques used, the variety of workouts and that every other day it was either Sagi or Autumn leading the workouts.
- I never got bored or burnt out
- The longest workout was only 43 minutes, but the majority were roughly 30 minutes. Which was perfect as a busy on the go mama.
- Being a part of a challenge group where I was getting daily accountability and support was a HUGE part of why I was able to finish this program all the way through.
- Loved the music, encouragement and motivation in each workout.
- Modifier that was in each workout was very helpful!
- It got me out of my comfort zone and it's my favorite program I've ever completed.

Some of the delicious clean foods I ate while doing the program that fueled my workouts and kept my belly full :)

Equipment I used:

The program gives you two options. You can either use a weight bench or a stability ball for several of the moves. I chose the stability ball because of limited space in my living room and it worked great! In fact as mentioned by the trainers in several of the workouts, I think I got a better core strengthening workout using it. You also have a choice of either using a pull up bar with or without the assistance attachment or a door attachment with a resistance band. Because my shoulder was just healing up I decided to go with the resistance band with the door attachment. It worked great and I'm looking forward to using the bar next round.

Results:

After 8 weeks of pushing play 6 days a week and following the eating plan about 75/25 my results were:

Total weight lost: 6.8
Total Inches Lost: 10 inches

I was shocked! I went down 1 pant size and I can fell the physical strength I've gained!

Who is this program for?

I would say this program is for anyone that is up for a challenge! (Obviously if you have medical concerns or risks please consult a Dr before doing it). I think it's helpful to have some sort of working out experience a head of time and to make sure you read/watch the safety guidelines for lifting weights so that you can prevent injuries.

As a busy mama with 2 kids under 5 I didn't feel like I was stretched for time doing this program at all. I was able to get my workout done each day, stuck with my 21 Day Fix containers which are also used in the Hammer and Chisel nutrition guide and really enjoyed this challenge. I LOVE this program and can't wait to do another round!

Hammer and Chisel: Week 4 Month 1 Results

Hey Hey Friends! I can't believe month ONE of Hammer and Chisel is already complete! I am loving the way this program is challenging me, keeping me engaged and giving RESULTS!

This week I noticed my hunger level increased a little, I upped my water and was fine :)

This week also wrapped up my "#PushPlayEverydayChallenge" for January! I worked out for 31 days straight! Feels so good to be getting my strength back, more energy and getting into a healthy routine for the new year!

Meal Prep this week was delicious! Made a big batch of the Fixate Frittata loaded with spinach, some edamame pasta with some orange infused avocado oil and a stir fry broccoli slaw blend. SO good!

Sunday marked day 28 of my first round of Hammer and Chisel and I took my Month One measurements and stats.

In one month I lost:

6.8 pounds
9 inches
1 pant size

I've lost 2 inches off my hips alone!

Honestly the pounds and inches lost is great, but really the strength and energy I'm gaining is worth all that and more in gold!

On to month two now!

Hammer & Chisel: Week 3

Week 3 of Hammer and Chisel has come and gone. I can't believe how much my strength and endurance has improved in such a short time. This is the first program since beginning this health and fitness journey where I'm not focused on a "goal weight". Instead I am focusing on strength, my energy level and building lean muscle.

This week I switched up my eating plan a little bit. Aimed for more protein and water and upped my weights in all but 1 of the workouts. I'm so torn between who's work outs I like better in this program, Sagi or Autumn. Honestly I like them both for different reasons.

I like the method behind Sagi's workouts, they are calculated, push you and pump you up. I like Autumn's workouts because that girl knows how to kick your butt! (In a good way). I also like your passion, and the way she can get you to step up your game and push just a little harder, or go just a little longer.

This weeks favorite workout was Total Body Chisel. Hello Pistol Squats!

Mid week I got a little surprise in the mail. The new Cafe Latte Shakeology! I may or may not have done a happy dance when I saw the box delivered. ;) In fact I was so excited about it, I had it for dinner that night! Yum.

ISO chisel strength was the last workout of the week. And it almost did me in with those weighted Lunges. Felt great to push through and get it done. One thing I wish I would have done at the beginning of starting this program was start filling out the tracker with what weights I'm using for each workout. I remember for the most part, but the data tracker in me wishes I had it on paper.

So apparently I move really fast in this workout ;)

Towards the end of week #3 I really started to notice a difference in my legs and the way my pants were fitting. I've lost 2 inches in my hips and am fitting in size 4 jeans that I haven't been able to wear since I was married 7 years ago! Looking forward to what the end results will be on day 60.

Here is Week #3's menu!

The Master's Hammer and Chisel: Week 2

Well hello there! I can't believe it's already day 15 of Hammer and Chisel! As my week #1 blog post said, I'm going to be blogging weekly on my progress with this program and how I'm doing on it!

I would say about day 12-13 I really started to feel my strength start to increase and my pants feeling looser. My appetite sky rocked this week so I upped my water in take and allowed my self 1 cheat meal (8 pieces of sushi and miso soup, yum).

Favorite workout of week #2? Definitely Chisel Agility! Wow that one put me through the ringer (in a good way). I think I might be crazy but I really like pistol squats!

Favorite meal this week?

Fixate Tacos. One word, YUM! This totally hit the spot! I will be posting my Incredible Hulk recipe (topping on the right side) in a new blog post this week.

I had an "a-ha moment" this week. Instead of having the mentality of "oh man I still gotta do my workout." Change it to "yes! I GET to work out today!" How blessed are we that we are able to take charge of our health and exercise and put clean foods into our bodies?

Woke up this morning on day 15 and took my mid month stats.

In 15 days I've lost

3.8 lbs and 5 inches (including 1 inch off my waist and 1.5 inches off my hips!)

TWO WEEKS.

What is 60 days going to bring?

All I know is that I've done every workout, stuck to the eating plan (minus my sushi night) and have taken this as a challenge I will complete.

Here was week #2's eating plan:

The Master's Hammer and Chisel: Week 1

Ever since The Master's Hammer and Chisel was announced at Summit July 2015 I've been excited to take on this 60 day program. Then we the accident happened at the end of September, I wasn't so sure I was going to be able to start this program in December as originally planned. After almost 4 months of 3-5 Dr. appts a week, physical therapy, chiropractor and specialist I finally felt like I could give this program a go after getting permission from my Dr.

January 4th, 2016 I became this program with fellow coaches and challengers in our Hammer and Chisel Launch Group. First impression on Day 1... this is going to be AMAZING.

What equipment you need:
- Either a weight bench or stability ball (I'm using the ball)
- weights
- pull up bar or resistance band with door attachment (I'm using the door attachment with band).
- yoga mat

You also need determination, commitment, and to dial in your nutrition, use the color coded containers and follow the easy to follow nutrition plan.

Weekends is when I like to meal prep and plan out the week ahead. I was beginning the 3 Day Refresh on the same day as day 1, So I wanted to be extra prepared. Here is my meals for week #1 of Hammer and Chisel.

I've found my workout time that I'm able to give it all I got is about 6:30am each morning. It's nice to get it done and be able to start our daily routine afterwards and know that I got my workout in already. It also keeps me motivated to stay on track with my eating the rest of the day.

My favorite part of the workout? Hearing my son say at the end "Alright Mommy you did it!" and getting high fives from my kids. It's a blessing to be able to work out at home with my kids present watching me and participating with me.

Saturday was a double workout day! I got to do a live Turbo Kick workout at Super Saturday (more on that later, different blog post) and then had to still come home and make sure I got my day 6 Hammer and Chisel work out in! I've committed to 60 days of this program, and I'm following it to a T!

What are some of the things I love about this program?

- Every other day the trainer switched, Autumn/Sagi. Keeps it fresh
- The moves, the energy, the gym like feel reminds me of my old school P90x days before getting married.
- The longest workout I've done to date is 43 mins. On average my daily workout has been about 30-35 minutes tops.
- Kicks your butt
- Music is great, trains are awesome, the modifier is helpful too!
- color coded containers: same as 21 day fix. Easy to use and gets you results.
- This program is nothing like I've seen or done before. I've completed several BB programs and this is by far my favorite just one week in. I can't wait to see where I will be at the end of the 60 days!

Want to join in on our Hammer and Chisel Challenge Group? You can join us at any time! You can get this program and your first 30 days of Shakeology for $70 only tell Jan 31st!

Don't Over Complicate Your 2016 Fit Goals - Create an Effective Action Plan

I've started and stopped writing this blog post several times this week. Just when I know what exactly I want to say "Whoooosh" it's gone. The underlying message I've wanted to convey is that instead of over complicating your health and fitness goals, instead of focusing on the BIG goal you've set for yourself.... Take today as "today" and that's it.

Today I will be mindful of the foods I put into my body.

Today I will get my 30 minute workout in.

Today I will choose to drink water over soda.

Today I will skip the drive thru and pack a healthy lunch.

Today I will be present.

I've have been asked many times what changed, what made it "click" for me to lose the weight this year and improve my health? I'll tell you right now it's been the change in mindset from the "BIG" goal to focusing on the actions that are required each day to reach that big goal I'd set for myself.

How to Create Your  Fit Goal to Action Plan for 2016:

1. Get out a piece of paper and a pen. I say pen and paper because I've learned from experience that actually writing out my goals instead of typing/texting ingrains it into my brain more.

2. Write out your health and fitness goal for the year.

3. Write down a list of 5 actions you can do each day you choose to show up and work towards that goal you wrote out above.

Example (Here's mine):

1. Drink my daily Shakeology
2. 30 Minute Workout
3. Use my portion control containers to measure out my foods
4. Track all my food intake on my phone app
5. When in doubt, think of 10 things off the top of my head I'm are thankful for.

4. Now that you have your goal and you 5 actions written out I want you to put that piece of paper and stick it up somewhere you will see every single day. (It could be your mirror, kitchen cabinet, desk bulletin board, etc.)

5. Read that piece of paper every single day.

That's it! It's easy for us all to make a big New Year's Resolution Goal. But it's even easier to stop working on that goal 3 weeks into the year because we don't have action steps in place to actually make that goal a reality.

Are you ready to make 2016 your healthiest year yet? It would be a blessing/privilege to be your coach and support you in your journey.

Fill out the quick application below and I will get back to you within 24 hours and we can get started together!
